How to Add and Customise Indicators on MT5

Hi and welcome to this Daman Markets tutorial on how you can add indicators to your chart.

So, right now we have the platform open and we have the chart in front of us. There’s a couple of ways you could add indicators to your chart. The first one is simply by clicking ‘Insert‘, going down to your indicators and selecting the indicator type that you’re after.

So say you want a trend indicator for a moving average so you’ll select that. Once you’ve selected, it will give you this option here on how you can customize it. So you can customize the number of periods, you can customize the colors, say I want it to be orange for example, and I want it to be a slightly thinner line and a dashed line. So once I’ve customized it to the way I want, I’ll simply press ‘OK‘.

And then if I zoom out a bit, my moving average indicator will be available for you to see right here. In addition to that, there is a different way. So say I want to add the volumes, I will simply navigate to the Navigator section, I will click on volume, then I will select my volume, and I will simply click and drag on the chart.

And again, that will give me the option that I’m after. So say I want my values up to be green, my values down to be red. I want it to be a slightly thicker line so I customize it how I want. I’ll press ‘OK’. Then that would show me the volumes. All your indicators that are available for you will be available through this collapsible menu on the Navigator.

Or again [go to] insert, indicator, select the indicator type, then you add it and customize it accordingly.

If you ever want to remove an indicator, there’s a couple of ways that you can do that. The first one is by hovering over the indicator itself, right-clicking, and then selecting ‘Delete‘, and that would remove the indicator for you.

Alternatively, you could go into your indicator list by simply pressing ‘Control + I‘ and this will give you all the indicators that are available on the chart that you’re seeing. So say I want to remove the volumes or customize it if I want to customize it, I will click ‘Properties‘, and I will customize it, say I want to go from green to yellow.

Press ‘OK‘ and then you can see the volume value up has changed to yellow. Alternatively, I can just select it, press ‘Delete’ and that will delete it for me.
